The Braden MU-3 winch has the same 8,000 lb. rating as the later MU-2s. The main difference is the MU-3 is designed to mount horizontally, with the front and rear ends of its gear housing level, as opposed to the MU-2 which is designed to mount with its front end higher than its rear end.

Here is a photo of a MU-3 mounted between the rear frame rails of my 1968 W300, which I've since sold. It ran off the rear output of the 10 bolt PTO on the model 201 transfer case. It was a great setup and helped me drag many dead trucks onto a flatbed trailer to bring home. :<> Enjoy!
