You have boys you say? If you get rid of it and they don't give you grief later in life they will be lying. As a kid I paid very little attention to the 46 civilian 1/2 ton in Grandma's back yard. As I got older it gnawed at me. I remember the feel of the seat because I slept there with an outrageous fever while we went to the dump. I remember the smell of the cab. The best smell in the world is dust and oil mixed, just like that truck. I remember driving to the dump in the truck with grandpa and dad back in the days when you pulled up to a pile of garbage and shoveled it to the dirt, and maybe came home with another treasure (none of this transfer station pit stuff). I got to sweep the bed and running boards when we were done. I remember how it feels when it shimmies at idle while dad or grandpa gets the gate. Grandpa died when I was six. The truck sat and moved once until I was 18. At that time I finally got up the nerve to ask my uncle if he was willing to give up the truck. He said I could have it. Greasy hands and busted knuckles, then Five or six years later I found this forum. I've learned a lot about cars from that truck. Sadly the truck has been sitting for the last four years because money is tight. The important thing is I still have it. Every now and then I walk past it and smell oil and dust. I am instantly taken back to a time where I have very few, yet potent memories of my Grandpa. My truck is an emotional time machine I hope stays in the family for as long as we can buy gas for it.

You may not realize this, but your kids are developing these same memories. Keep the truck.
