Track down one of those tool trucks that visit all the repair garages and mechanic shops. Ask the guy if he has a thread file in stock. It is about a half inch square with several different thread pitches on it. Choose the side with the pitch that matches yours and file away. You can also get the nut started and lightly tap the flats of the nut with a hammer all around the outside of the nut. You wil be able to get a little movement with each tap.
