I would pull the pan a second time and check for stuck pump. I suspect a hard particle has jammed the pump gears (it is a gear pump)and caused a secondary failure. Every time I see a pan in that bad condition, the motor gets pulled. Or first, I would pull the distributor cap and see if the rotor spins freely, or pull the distributor and see if the nylon drive gear is kaput. I think there should be a shear pin that mounts the gear, and THAT should fail first, and not say, snap your camshaft in half.
