On the last forum I posted about my starter spinning but not engaging the flywheel.
Since I appreciate it so much when others post their fixes I thought I would do the same.
While not yet fixed, I found the problem. It looks like a section of the helix on the bendix assembly broke off and grenaded the mechanism. With part of the helix gone I have no interest in fixing this, so I found a correct replacement on-line. Should be here in a few days. Everything else inside the starter looks fine.
