i don't know that the ford 8 would give any benifit over the Dodge 6 other than road speed.. Note that the big ford 337 would likely not fit, the smaller block 239 would be the logical choice. the ford 239 flat head may spin faster, but in my experience it lacks the bottom end tourque. my F6 has a two speed rear 5.83/8.11. the first gear is the same as my m-37, but it lacks the tourque in the 5.83 range, granted using the 8.11 range it has gobs of tourque. the ford will however spin at 55 or 60 ,, my governed Dodge seems happy at 50 to 55. Please note that the 230 Dodge was rebuilt about 5 years ago, and the 239 ford is soon to be pulled for a rebuild and is handy caped with 900x20 tires, but for "PW service", i do not see any advantage over the Dodge six..
