Hi,
I guess I don't have much right to post on this list since I don't have a Power Wagon, but suffice it to say I WILL have one someday. For now I will have to finish restoring 2 Willys 46 CJ-2As. The way I look at it is like this. A restoration can be a fountain of youth for these great old vehicles, and what I plan on doing is restoring my two jeeps to the absolute best of my ability, paying extreme attention to detail. Then once they are done, I will have two jeeps that are just like they were when they rolled off the factory floor. I may trailer them for safety and practicality's sake but I won't be afraid to use them as they were originally designed. I may be more cautious than the original owners, but I will take a few risks. And they may get a bit scratched and dinged. But they will be my dings, and if in 50 years it needs to be restored again than I can have all this fun all over again. Only this time I wont have to fix the previous owners fixes if you know what I mean. Same rules apply to my future Power Wagon that I will own.
I restored my late grandfathers 1966 gravely tractor that he gave to me shortly before his death, and I paid close attention to the details, I wanted it to be just as he had it when it was new. I finished it in time for him to see it. I will never forget how this once strong man who was ever so frail due to illness and old age, staggered to his old tractor to admire the work I had done.
I use the tractor to cut grass plow snow dig ditches and everything else that needs doing. And every time I fire her up I think of him and how proud he would be of all the work that his old tractor has done for me.
Thanks for letting me bend you collective ears. And if you know of a Power wagon in the MO area, DON'T TELL ME IT WILL DRIVE ME NUTS
Clay
