Eric:

PW VIN numbers began in 1946 at 83900001 in Detroit and ended in 1947 at 83906216, for 1946-47 production of 6,216 PW model WDX trucks from Detroit. PW VIN numbers began slightly later in 1946 at 88750001 in Los Angeles and ended at 88750894, for 894 PW model WDX trucks produced at LA. Total WDX model truck production for both plants is 7,110 PW trucks.

PW engine numbers began at T137-1001 for both plants, so engine number T137-8022 is the 7,022nd engine made for a PW. It is among the last 100 engines assembled during WDX production, so would be numerically correct for a very late (December) 1947 WDX PW and less so for a very early 1946 WDX.

Nevertheless, I'd use it over any non T137 Dodge engine if I had a very early WDX and this engine was my only choice. If his WDX has a running engine in it now, I'd wait for a lower T137 engine serial number. Hope this helps.
