Hi,

Does anyone out there have experience with POR's "Hardnose" topcoats? This is the UV Insensitive topcoat that is designed to go over the POR-15 products.

I have visited their web site and also talked to one of their people and came to the understanding that one would apply it as follows:

1 - Sandblast metal.

2 - Go over metal with their "Metal Ready"
then wash it off with water.

3 - Put a coat of POR-15 on metal (and small dents,
scratches, etc.) They suggested to use the
Silver instead of Black if I were to use the
Red Hardnose.

4 - When this is set up hard enough to work on,
apply body filler etc. That could be 6 hrs
later depending on humidity. Smooth the body
filler.

5 - Apply the Hardnose coats with in 24 hrs of
when the POR-15 was first applied.

6 - Apply 2nd and 3rd coats of Hardnose with
about 30 min between coats.

I really like the surface durability of POR-15. That and simplicity is the reason I am planning to use POR Hardnose for exposed body panels on my Power Wagon (I plan to use this thing after working on it for so long).

Does anyone have experience with the Hardnose paints? How do they stand up to abrasion and wear? Did you use a process similar to above? Do you have words of advice?

Thanks,

Ray
