If possible, in one last attempt to reason a point, there is basically no charging resistance unless there is a draw and that resistance is relative to the amp. draw.
Unless your running high amp drawing devices such as aux. lights,radio booster,etc. the amp draw after the battery is recharged from starting,is fairly low causing very little resistance and drag on the engine.
To test this statement,check the catolog listed amp draw for the waterpumps and the fans, then find a source that can tell you how much hp is needed to turn the PW alt. for a given amount of amp. draw.
