You still gotta push as much water or air.It takes just as much hp to push same amount of fluids whether you use electricity or belts.
Granted that if you run off of battery power for a short time, you'll have more power to the ground, but you'll just have to re-charge your battery later.Electric fans came into common useage with sideways mounted, front wheel drive engines to keep radiators mounted in the wind stream, they didn't have to move the radiators sideways for a motor driven fan to cool them.Another application for electeric fans is when customising, to gain the freedom from mounting radiator next to engine driven fan. If electric water pumps gained the claimed power, why aren't they stock equipment since hp gains would be translated into better gas mileage? If you really want to gain hp why not disconnect your charging system altogether- it draws 4-10 horsepower too.
