I seem to remember using heat from a propane torch. I also bought the biggest screwdriver I could to fit. You want something new with very square edges. Do not use the big screwdriver that doubles as a chisel or paint can opener. I may have sprayed it with some kind of light oil too (liquid wrench?). I've since used and read about better penetrating oils (like paraffin). When unscrewing, push _straight_ in more than you are twisting. Too small a screwdriver will probably twist the metal and strip the screw head.
