There's also something they call "mehanite" (not sure of the spelling) that's used for milling machines, lathes, and the like. One thing I know about cast iron from reading the old engineering textbooks is there is no such thing as simply "cast iron" unless you're making sewer grates or yard art. Beyond that, it's an amazingly complex material with a huge variety of properties depending on not only the initial chemical composition, but also how it's cast and heat treated.
