Working on the ones I bought from you, I couldn't master the hammer routine without heating the J hooks. A little red glow made them much more cooperative. The concept was fine. As long as the chains are mounted on a tire, they stayed together. But when they were loose the J hooks slipped out of place. I definitely think they are hardened. And I don't think your tool would have any use on these particular chains.
