If you did it, would you remember using rubber grease?? I always use it when the system is going to use regular old style brake fluid. I've used it when fitting new cups in pitted but honed cylinders when nothing else was available and it worked fine, no leaks. If you didn't use rubber/brake grease when you built the cylinders and there's a lot of it, then it's something else.
