There should be no difference between the surfaces of the two halves. The whole purpose of machining the two pieces together was to get as flat a matching surface as possible.

What problems the difference in the two faces will cause, I don't know. But, any measurable difference in the surfaces must have been a cause for concern by the Dodge engineers or they wouldn't have gone to the trouble of assembling and machining the two pieces as a pair.

If the difference is causing a problem, it would be simple enough, and not too expensive, to buy a matched pair.

Other than causing leaks, I wouldn't think the mismatched pair would cause problems like you describe.
