The 2bbl on 318s w/ manual choke is rare, only used for a couple years in the early 70s. Bigger trucks I think.

And it's not just the choke function, manual chokes use a ramp for cold idle speed, not the steps that the autos used. So if you just add a cable to the auto choke carb, the steps will prevent choke operation.

So I went through some gyrations to build a real Rupe Goldberg linkage that uses a cable that rotates the auto choke that used to set in the manifold.

Plus, the throttle linkage is on the wrong side. More jack leg engineering.

Next one will get something else. !bbl from a /6 or Ford 300? I do have a Monojet on a core 230. Pretty groady, but might clean up. Waaaay down the road for that phase of my projecathon.
