Well I can tell you that I'm missing half a thumb from a much smaller saw than that one...but I have to admit that 30 minutes before it happened I had just finished removing the safety guard :)
Most accidents happen when people get complacent around tools they use every day & that's why 90% of good construction workers are missing a digit or two.
I think with most tools, if you treat them with respect, they won't kill you.
That big saw I would treat with a large amount of respect :)
Winches are another tool you can use thousands of times & everything goes smooth & one time you get preoccupied & all hell breaks loose.
When I think of all the dangerous things I've done in my life...I go to sleep feeling pretty lucky :)
