Bob covered the plenishing well. It also relieves and stress that may cause a warp. I do all plenish work by hand with a dolly and body hammer. Work slow, not overheat the metal, plenish often and all works out well.

I set the old fender on my bench and got it level. Then using a laser with a vertical fan, I set the laser level in relation to the fender and moved the vertical laser fan to the place where I wanted to cut the bad section off. I then did the same on the donor, marked and cut. Both pieces matched perfect. Then its just a matter of welding.
