If your plan is to use a 240 volt motor to operate the gate,then this may be of interest to you. My voltage drop calculator shows that with a 15 amp, 240 volt load on the end of 1400' of #2 copper conductor the loss is 3.3% or 8 volts. With #2 aluminum the loss is 5.3% or 12.7 volts.
That much cable is going to be a lot of $$$$$s.
Then factor in the cost of trenching, conduit (if you use it), sand, etc.etc. and I think you will be looking back at the DC system again.
