I have never done it but watched on a few 6bt installs on forums and some cut firewall and some dont. I would opt not too I would just have a custom intercooler made to fit in front of radiator, and custom radiator if it coudl not be moved far enough in bracket but I think it can be.
on the other hand I have towed quite a bit with a poly 1 ton and 4.88s and was very happy with towing ability. 62 to 67 mph hauling another 1 ton on trailer with ease. that would have been slow say over some mountains but with a 4 barrel added and maybe cam should pull hills well even towing. my worst mileage was 9 towing at 62 or so or 14 no load or trailer
