Back in '78 during REFORGER (an old field exercise in Germany), one of our 5 ton tractors (an M818) blow the lock ring off while running down the Autobahn. Luckily it was the right front and not the left front, that blow out and ended up in the weeds along the highway. If it had been the left front, it probably would have taken out some Germans car.
