I could be mistaken,(I am not an electrician)but I think ,in your situation,you will need a magnetic starter for a "true" 5hp motor,unless you have 3 phase power,which you don't.
I like Quincy pumps with Baldor motors.
My 2cents... Its hard to get a really good combo that lasts for years without spending $ 2000-3000.You should be able to run about a 20 cfm @100psi pump dependably.You are pushing your luck with anything bigger.
