Yep, I've tried to make sure every aspect of this job is done correctly, so as not to have ANY issues. All my connections are in LARGE junction boxes so there is plenty of room, and I'm using proper breakers, switches and outlets rated for 20 amps (as is the wire - 12 GA). I'm also not double-tapping any of the neutral wires, although there are several others already in the panel that were there before we moved into this house.

I don't believe any of this is rocket science, but there are things that must be done correctly, and some technique to it.

I figured the plastic used for wiring insulation and nuts wouldn't support combustion, but one never knows for sure, so it's good to hear you say that.
