I agree Manny. I've always said a lot of has to do with the "short term greed" mentality that has been instilled in corporate America. Get in, get out, milk the company dry and sell it off.
You see this all the time when they buy up a company just to get the brand name. Ride it out with selling junk products with a great warranty. All the long knowing your going to sell off or fold it up so the warranty is just another ploy.
My brother was an engineer in GM's R & D. He got pushed into management and was over a group of engineers. His group out preformed all others by a longshot. The bigwigs noticed and wanted him to write and give a presentation on how he got so much out of his group.
When he told them he treated them with respect, listened to their ideas, Bought them toys and gadgets to test their ideas out of his budget they were silent. They ended up telling him he should be more of an authority figure and "They couldn't do that" as it Wasn't in the company policies to work in such a matter.
He said a lot of times he knew an idea would not work and suggested it to the guy. He WOULD let him try if it wasn't too much of a drawn out thing. He said when it became apparent what he'd suggested was true the employee ended up having respect for him as he knew what he was talking about. He could have just slammed him and made him mad but he did the opposite, a learning experience if you will.
I see this entitled generation now and it burns me up. They basically want socialism where everyone should have what everyone else has. They just, DO NOT WANT TO WORK FOR IT. In my opinion, most social programs devalue the dollar to the point where we are now. It's easier not to work and let the government provide it.
The proposed food stamp budget is $764 billion. Ponder that for a moment.
