the gaskets can be a pain to get in if the frame corners have swelled and closed the gap.
as paul mentioned, i have seen the length vary, but in the last year they have all been sized nicely. sometimes they get stretched while installing. try working it around, do not use oil, if lube is needed use one approved for rubber. the link below shows an install. click the link and use the arrows in the top left to advance pictures. good luck.
