I've used that site and it is helpful.

What I'm dealing with here is something only done for 3-4 months at the end of 1956 and all the information about the displacement is full of contradictions. In situations like this I only trust factory sources or people who have opened up and measured original engines.

Websites like that one are great, but they don't often share their source material. I spent a few hours digging into every last bit of factory data I could find and checking information I'd gathered from real world trucks. In the end it looks like Dodge meant to use the 259, but changed their mind. The early literature that was produced either prior to production of the T400 series trucks or shortly after the start of production shows the 259. Later literature shows the 269 and the actual trucks show a bump in HP to that of the 269.

I'd like to have some actual measurements of real world engines to be 100% positive, but from what I can find I feel confident that I'm right.

Eric
