I installed one when my 230 was freshly rebuilt. A discussion was had on Gordon's Power Wagon Advertiser site. doing a search on "diesel coolant filter" will also bring up lots of information. Fleet Filter sells a base for the NAPA 4019 coolant filter. There rest of the installation was plumbing hardware and hoses, and of course a NAPA 4019 filter. Following the advice from the PW Advertiser discussion, I plumbed a pipe into the engine block at the front left coolant passage, and ran a return hose to the top inlet on the water pump. I have not changed a filter so as to inspect it for debris, but the filter gets hot as the engine warms up, so I am confident that the coolant is circulating as intended. This may be overkill, but I sometimes obsess in that direction.
