Measuring my Christmas rings, my end gap measures as:

@3/8" - 0.034
@1" - 0.032
@4" - 0.025

So these numbers are certainly better than the originals (~0.1875), but not within the 0.007 - 0.015 spec. From the above, taper is 0.009.

I've read everything from 0.020 to .003 for acceptable taper, although I don't know what the implications would be for "unacceptable"?

Any thoughts on this condition? A rebore is out of the question at this time, but is this worth the expense of new pistons/bushings/pins, or should I just re-ring and save the money for when the time comes for a more complete rebuild?
