I didn't have any trouble with the latch, but I can see how someone might. The trick, (as you know) is to lift the connecting rod through the window slot and use the rod to maneuver the latch mechanism around the window channel.
Actually, until I had the problem with the guides, the job was going along pretty well. After a somewhat frustrating half hour, I gave up for the night. Sometimes, it's just better to backup and re-group.
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a trick.
While struggling with this, I was thinking that, probably, the factory put the whole door together in 10 minutes.
