Bill, the best way to insulate a home nowadays is with spay foam but it's expensive to have it done. Nothing else will tighten up a house like it.You're answer about fiberglass and the paper is the paper is a vapor barrier. You won't need plastic over it, as a matter of fact a double vapor barrier is not recomended. I like to use un-faced fiberglass then put a 4 mil poly vapor barrier over it. The vapor barrier goes on the living space side of the wall. The guys are right an insulating contractor can probably install the insulation cheaper than you can even buy it.
