That's one way of looking at it. But we appreciate old tools (I just used one of my great-great-grandfather's chisels yesterday) it would be nice if others could continue to appreciate them after we're gone. So, it's not so much that we'll care at that point, but rather that we want others to have the same chance to enjoy them that we had while they were ours. In the case of the locksmith, he wasn't even "gone" yet. He was just in the old folks home and his son said he didn't know what was going on any more. I hope that was true.
