Jerry, yea, I made my main stairs out of Yellow pine, it's kind like fir decking, it's full of sap which makes it hard and weather resistant. I have some fir on the porch of my house that is over 100 years old, it gets wet everytime it rains and it is still as good as the day it was put there, there is so much sap in the wood there is really no wood ha ha. Pw content, I think the bed I made from PT was a good idea. Oak is strong, but unless it's treated well it dries out then dry rots quickly.
