I'm a Sp. Ed. teacher and you are right, I coteach in a fourth grade class and the general ed. teacher was going over important events and after she showed several vidieos about Nelson Mandela, I mentioned to her that Sat. would be Pearl Harbor day, she said she didn't want to scare the kids and she only wanted to mention more relevant events....I could hardly contain my frustration. But this is the attitude in U.S. schools today. I'm not trying at to down grade the importance of Nelson Mandela and his importance to history but I thought Pearl Harbor could have been mentioned
