it is likely a ground problem. I too have the signal stat switch. i would like to machine a column clamp that properly grabs the column and then the switch would screw into the clamp. the ground situation gets worse when you add power steering as the column is isolated from the frame. maybe run a ground wire down the column inside the loom and ground behind the dash. i just wiggle mine to get a ground.
