On Christmas day way back in 1999 I begged my brother in law to bring me to pick up my old 1948 Chevy dually truck from the guy I had purchased it from, about 40 miles away from home. He reluctantly agreed, and after the morning presents and routine we made our way over at about 2 pm and left the guys yard about half an hour later. This truck had nothing on the back, and was just a cab and frame. We made it home in great time, and I was pleased nothing broke down and there wasn't any brake failures. "nightmares the evening before"
I figured my brother inlaw would be happy too, but when I jumped out of the truck after we pulled in the driveway, he wasn't looking to happy.
Seems a rock wedged inbetween the dually tires in the rear had come free on the way down the road and smashed his windshield of his truck.
He doesn't volunteer to go truck hunting with me anymore, but makes for a great seasonal story I hear over and over at family gatherings.
