You could also use a 3 way zone valve as pictured here. My house had an existing hot water oil furnace. I put in a heat exchanger and this valve and it keeps the house at whatever you want it.

Houses thermastat is tied to the zone valve. When it calls for heat, it opens to the heat exchanger. I run the original houses furnace circulator pump constantly. It keeps the ramp up in temp a gradual thing so the pipes do not "ting" if you will.

How it your furnaces temp controlled?
