The old mill I bought in Montana was powered by a flat-head Ford V8 industrial model with about a 15" flat belt pulley on the power plant belted to a big bald truck tire, maybe 40" dia on the mandrel. There was some kind of funky home-made hub to attach the wheel to the straight keyed mandrel shaft. Unfortunately the building collapsed on the machinery the winter before I bought the place, and I sold the powerplant when I needed cash (wish I hadn't), and I never have attempted to put the mill equipment back together again. Will try to run it on a 40 HP electric motor powered by a 60 kW diesel generator when I do. It was a "Cornith" circle-saw mill, probably made in the '20s or '30s. From the looks of the lumber it cut, it cut good and straight. Will probably combine it with the pieces of an American #1 (1940s vintage, with roller bearings on the mandrel) when I do set it up, because the American husk is less worn and less cobbled-together. The Corinth carriage and bunks seem heavier, though. Both mills came with good blades, and the American even came with the original instruction manual.
