The 2000 factory turbo is very different than the 7.3 IDI's. I have a '88 7.3 IDI in my '88 F-250 and it runs great. There can be hidden cylinder wall cavitation issues with that engine, so be careful. My truck starts as good as the day I bought it off the lot. You have to make sure of the following
1) Good fresh batteries(2)
2) Battery cables are not old and corroded
3) Use the ZD9 glow plugs and nothing else. Using the wrong plugs will cause problems when the tips swell up and they get stuck in the head.
4) Make sure the starter spins the motor fast enough. It is not like a gas engine where as long as it sparks it will fire. The diesel needs to crank over fast to generate heat to make it start.

I've had mine now for 25 years so I know most of the issues.
