did it ever run as you think it should?
if so go back thru what you have done to it
since the last time it ran well.
did you check the dist advance ?
put a timing light on and see what advance you get as you increase the engine speed.
I do not remember if you indicated compression as it might not have much
you might by-pass wiring & hot wire it and
see what happens
