After that it becomes a job. I've always thought it would be fun to drive one to the IA rally & I would do it in a heartbeat but it would be more of an adventure than anything else...I mean it certainly wouldn't be a comfortable trip. Fun? Yes sir! Memorable? You bet! Comfortable? absolutely not! :)
I mean my 2011 isn't comfortable after about 1000 miles & so a WDX is never going to be.
I mean we love the attention these trucks command & I can't think of any engine that commands more attention than a Detroit! :)
As far as oil leaks...only if you don't maintain them, is all I can say. Our 8V92's had 26,000 hours on them & you could cook your lunch on them they were so clean.
It's like how everyone says Harley's leak oil...it's the mechanics that work on them that result in the leaks. Get a good mechanic & they will leak no oil.
You need to understand 2 cycle diesels & like anything, there's a way to make them work well.
