not to confuse this issue, but there are off road diesels too. used in applications like bobcats, cranes and loaders. i cannot see how they are much difft than their on road cousins except for road certifications which dont apply to what we are doing with our trucks. we have on road and off road yard jockies in our truck fleet. the diff between the two types is that one engine is certified for road use and the other is not. with the advent of DPF and emissions, both engines are now almost identical.
