The attached image is of the style of tag your truck would have had. All PWs in that era got the holes for the tag, but not all of them got the tag. The number for the tag would be on your build card if you ordered one of those (I'm not sure if Chrysler knows how far up they have cards for. I'd order one and see for any truck up to 1956 just to check).

The link below has tons of detail pictures and other info showing tags and other number locations on PWs. I'd spend some time looking it over.
