I sent a email to a friend who has lived on Charley Hill Road for many many years. He is now living in Brussels. I got this email this morning.
"Say, this is a fascinating story. My, my. Thanks for sending it. I had heard a rumor from an old newspaperman in 1968 about an antique car stashed in a unknown barn up there. The rumor had become embellished over time as a Stutz limo that had belonged to the bootlegger Legs Diamond who was shot and killed on an Albany street during the prohibition era. So there was a real car somewhere behind the tale after all."
