I have to turn down a transmission output yoke that has a flange mounted to it for a parking brake type application. I have no use for the flange in my application and its inhibbiting the transmission fitment clearances relative to the floor of the truck. Instead of cutting up the truck, if I turn down this flange, I can have a good bit more room. I have a 12" Atlas lathe thats in really good shape, tight gibs, etc. Any advice on turning down this cast steel part? I also have a tool post grinder attachment but have never used it and I believe it may not fit due to the diameter of this yoke. I have some cheap carbide tipped HSS turning tools but thats about it. Any advice from those experienced?
