Explanation from another forum:

Hi, I have a Barrett Brake Doktor large or truck series for sale. You need the truck model set up to do the large Classic Cars. It's almost impossible to get your brakes to set up these days due to two problems, #1 Modern material for brake shoes is harder and takes a long time to wear in to full contact, #2 Oversize antique drums means the shoes can't set in the full closed position and still adjust correctly to stop due to excessive clearance of the oversize drum. That's where this little gem comes in. You reline the shoes with thicker material and then the machine cuts the material concentric to the drum as it revolves around the spindle of the wheel or axle. You use the caliper measuring tool to measure the drum, cut the shoes to .002 under, and presto, you have FULL CONTACT BRAKES ON THE DRUM FROM ZERO ADJUSTMENT! No time is spent messing around with adjustment or getting the shoes to grab evenly or get them to "set" in. I have been using on of these for 25 years, and trust me, once you have set up a car with one of these you will never do another brake job without it again. No pulling, grabbing, or out of time brake drag or problems. This is the most complete set up I have ever seen, with the display truck on wheels. ALL the parts are there, plus extras, as well as the paperwork! If you look on the forum search you will see people advertising looking for these. I would like to see it go to a restoration shop or someone with a collection who will use it and not just display it as garage art. YES, the motor works fine, and even has the small disk to use for smaller cars and pick up trucks. Ask around and anyone who knows what this is will tell you it a must have for any serious collector who drives his car! It's gonna go on EBAY for 1500 but I thought I would offer it to The CCCA and AACA guys first. $1200 takes it to avoid paypal and ebay fees. Contact me by PM or call my cell listed in the CCCA directory.
