We had bats hanging on the screen of a gable vent on the house. The louvers on the vent protected the bats, and they could hang on to the screen. We used moth balls hung on the inside of the screen to keep bats away. Eventually got rid of the gable vent.
The bats flying in at dawn sounded like someone was throwing rocks at the house. Not a graceful landing.
