I know colors can be matched. Most auto paint stores will do it and there are computers which automatically determine the formulas. So, it's far from impossible. It's just that color matching can be expensive and at two or three hundred dollars a gallon it can get expensive, especially if mistakes are made.

I'm just wondering if somebody had the modern code or formula which would save everybody else some time and money.

As far as I can tell, 60 year old paint codes are just historical trivia.
