You can either use a large pair of sidecutters to grab and pry it out with or you can clean the key off and clamp it in a clean vise. You then tap on the shaft with a dead blow hammer. Don'T use a regular steel hammer unless you tap on a block of wood to prevent damage.
The clean part is important because you have such little area to clamp on, if its dirty it will slip out of the vise.
Newer keys have holes tapped through them so they can be removed by threading a screw into it. You can drill and tap your old key for easier future removal if you like.
