Hi all,
Regarding a 1955 230: I have very close to 0 (zero) oil pressure as measured at the port immediately behind the starter motor. I was assuming that my gauge was broken and I went to fix it today. It uses a capillary tube. I took it off and tested it against my compressor at different pressures from 60 to 7, and it agreed with the compressor gauge. I put it on the truck, nothing at idle, nothing at higher rpms. To confirm this, I then took the gauge off the capillary tube and started it. There was oil in the tube but none of it came out, so it is zero.
I have been looking at the archives and I am a bit confused as from what I understand 0 would mean a quick death, AND the thing smokes at bit, which says (to me) that oil is moving about the engine.
I am going to take the oil pan off and see what I can see, but I could it be just at where I am measuring the pressure? Are we a gonner here?
Thanks,
don
